Never Let These Things Worry You While Pregnant

Your taste buds would thoroughly respond to varieties of delicacies once you get pregnant. Rosy dreams of a cuddling baby nestled in your arms will come across your mind quite often. They will come, and you must allow them to interrupt your general thoughts. This is because the more they feel you with immeasurable joy, the less chances you will have to get bothered about silly and trifle notions.

Morning sickness and fatigue

Do not cut down those protein rich glasses of chocolate milk and bacons and salads. These help you to build up your energy, both for yourself and for your child.

Sexual life

A cozy embrace is not likely to help the "to –be- mothers" and the "to- be -fathers" if only the doctors rate your pregnancy as a low risk one. In other cases, like vaginal bleeding, membrane rapture, preterm labor and placenta pevia, you have no other way be to refrain from going into sensual retreats.

Cut down on pain killers

Headaches are common with pregnant women. But that does not give you the license to have acetaminophen at your free will. These drugs if taken sporadically may lead to untoward complications.

Trip and fell- now what?

A sudden fall is totally undesirable for pregnant women. But do not panic if you have not landed on your abdomen. It is better not to underestimate accidents. Though, your body gets prepared to resist all kinds of injuries, but still you should go for primary medications after an accident.

Can I exercise?

You can go for pregnancy related workouts provided you do not have the tendency of complaining of preterm labor or other dire complications. Consult doctor before deciding about workouts.

Computers are harmless

Working to- be-mothers must not jitter about computers. They cause no harm to your child; instead they keep you at safe distance from meaningless tensions.

Diabetes During Pregnancy

Diabetes is an age old disease, which is recorded as early as Greek civilization. This disease is characterized by excretion of large amount of very dilute urine. Diabetes can also be explained as a syndrome characterized by disordered metabolism and inappropriate blood sugar level.

On the basis of symptoms diabetes can be classified into two types - a) diabetes mellitus b) diabetes insipidus.

While diabetes mellitus is characterized by high blood sugar level, resulting from low insulin (hormone which controls the sugar level in blood) level, the characteristic symptoms are excessive urine production (polyuria), excessive thirst, and increased fluid intake (polydipsia) and blurred vision.

On the other hand, diabetes insipidus is characterized by excretion of large amount of severely diluted urine, which can not be reduced when fluid intake is reduced, leading to severe inability of kidney to concentrate urine.

World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes three main forms of diabetes mellitus; one of them is termed as gestational diabetes which occurs during pregnancy. Early diagnosis can cure the disease.

The basic cause of diabetes during pregnancy is that, mother's body is the sole supplier of glucose (sugar that results from the digestion of food) to the baby. This glucose is delivered to the baby through placenta. in return placenta produces certain hormones which helps the baby to develop, but on other hand these hormones prevents mothers body to use insulin and at later stage placenta increases these anti-insulin hormones which blocks the movement of glucose from the blood stream to the cell of the mother's body. This condition is termed as insulin resistance which leads to gestational diabetes.

There are several factors which increases the chance of developing diabetes during pregnancy, which includes the parents may have a family history of diabetes, obesity, the mother being over age 25 and the mother have a previous record of giving birth to a stillborn child or to a baby weighing nine pounds.

Though there are no obvious symptoms of gestational diabetes, but American diabetes association recommends all women to be screened for gestational diabetes between 24th and 28th week of pregnancy.

The following are the names of such screenings a) blood glucose test b) glucose tolerance test.

There can be many cases that the woman may have pre existing diabetes. In that case the mother must be warned against the complicacies that may arise during pregnancy. Careful planning and preconception care can allow the diabetic woman to have a problem free pregnancy.

Top 10 Very Early Pregnancy Signs

Some women don't have any symptoms at all. Some women have a few of these presented below. Some women may have others that are not listed. These pregnancy symptoms tend to be
the most prevalent, however.

1. Fatigue. Due to the increase in hormone levels, most women begin to feel extreme fatigue in early pregnancy.

2. Sore breasts and/or nipples. Many women feel that their breasts are fuller and more tender with their nipples being more sensitive during early pregnancy.

3. Cramping and/or bloating. This early pregnancy symptom tends to feel very much like your period is coming.

4. Light bleeding. This light spotting is caused by the fertilized egg embedding into the lining of the uterus. Many women feel that their period is beginning, but it is actually one of their first signs of pregnancy.

5. Nausea and/or vomiting. Normally, morning sickness won't occur until about a month after conception, and some escape this pregnancy symptom altogether.

6. Increased urination. This symptom of early pregnancy occurs due to the increase in blood and other body fluids, which is processed by the kidneys and ends up in the bladder. This increase in urination will most likely only worsen as your pregnancy progresses.

7. Missed period. This pregnancy symptom is the first sign to some women that they are pregnant, especially with menstrual periods that are pretty regular.

8. Increased sensitivity to odors. This early pregnancy symptom may be due to increased estrogen levels, but no one knows for sure.

9. Basal body temperature stays high. If you're charting your basal body temperature, one of the very early pregnancy signs is a higher-than-normal temperature for that time of the month due to increasing progesterone levels in early pregnancy.

10. Positive pregnancy test . Most pregnancy tests will not detect early pregnancy until your menstrual period is missed. Some tests are more highly sensitive, however, and can detect pregnancy as early as a few days after conception.

How to Look HOT in a Maternity Bathing Suit

Do you mean you could actually look good in a bathing suit and go to the beach while pregnant? Like even 8 months pregnant? Of course you can, as specially made maternity swimwear is available in many styles to accommodate your preferences and give you the look you want. You may even get a compliment on how beautiful you look being pregnant!

No, you don't have to wear an all black, oversized bathing suit...in fact, colorful prints will make you look prettier, flatter your skin tone and detract attention away from your large tummy.

Did you know that swimming is considered the best exercise when you're pregnant? So even if you live in Minnesota, it would be good for you to visit the local indoor (heated) pool and swim. See my website for specific swim strokes that are best and ones to avoid. But, back to the maternity bathing suit topic...

Are you one of those women who like to show their entire stomach when pregnant? Then just buy a regular bikini. No problem. But if you don't want to let it all hang out, then you should buy a maternity bathing suit that covers your belly, and looks classy as well.

The different styles come in variations of tankini styles, but are longer in the front. As you grow, the suit will still cover your belly, up until your ninth month. At 5 months, it may look a little long, but that's because it's made to cover your tummy in your later months.

A good maternity bathing suit is made with ties, not clasps. Why? Because with ties, when your bust and/or your belly gets bigger, you can simply loosen the ties and the suit will still fit you. Maternity bathing suits made to fit for your entire pregnancy save you money in the long run. You only need to buy one.

How many maternity bathing suits have you looked at on models who must be about 6 months pregnant - and they look tight around the stomach? I've seen many, and wondered, gee - how will that fit her in a couple more months??

One piece maternity swimwear is very pretty - if you don't mind your tummy sticking out, as you can definitely see your shape as the suit hugs your belly. If you don't want to look pregnant that much, then the full coverage styles, which are longer in the front are better for you.

When considering 2-piece styles, the bottoms should be cut low enough in the front so that your tummy grows above. The bikini bottoms don't necessarily have to have ties at the side, as there is enough stretch in bathing suit fabric that allows you to grow in the hips a few inches. Your hips don't normally get bigger when you are pregnant, providing you are putting on the right amount of weight.

When you're pregnant, and putting on around the recommended weight, you should only grow bigger in the tummy. SOME women grow bigger in the bust as well, but many do not.

OK, you've figured it out. I am plugging my products. But that's only because I am a mom and a designer of maternity bathing suits, and know what women need. My company, Pregabelli Maternity, has the trendiest fabric patterns, latest styles, and a variety of one and two-piece suits to choose from.

Also, we make everything in Miami, Florida. That means its made in the USA - and when was the last time you bought a piece of clothing actually made in this country? You're doing a good thing by supporting American workers.

But check us out for yourself. We have only the highest quality fabrics and all our suits are made with soft ties, so that your maternity swimsuit will fit you for your entire pregnancy. And you'll look amazing! What more could you ask for?

Ectopic Pregnancy - Signs and Symptoms

During pregnancy, typically the fertilized egg travels through the fallopian tube to reach the mother's womb. However, in some cases the egg fails to reach the womb but gets lodged in the fallopian tube, where it continues to grow. This is known as 'ectopic' or 'tubal' pregnancy. More rarely, the fertilized egg lodges in the cervix, abdomen, or c-section scar, and is known as heterotopic pregnancy.

If an ectopic pregnancy is left untreated, the embryo will continue to grow till it ruptures the fallopian tube. This could result in complications, and may even be fatal for the expecting mother. Since there is no way to move the egg into the womb, ectopic pregnancies are terminated.

Risks

Your spouse is at greater risk of ectopic pregnancy in the following situations:

* Her pregnancy occurs even though she had a tubal ligation (surgical sterilization)

* She had an intrauterine device (IUD) when she became pregnant

* She has undergone surgery of the fallopian tubes

* She previously had an ecoptic pregnancy

* She has an infection in the upper reproductive tract (pelvic inflammatory disease or PID)

* She has been treated for infertility because of damaged tubes

Symptoms

Ectopic pregnancy is usually diagnosed around six weeks of pregnancy. Your spouse should consult her obstetrician if she has any of the following symptoms:

* Pain or tenderness in the abdomen or pelvis, especially while coughing or moving bowels, and which may become more severe or chronic with time

* Vaginal bleeding

* Shoulder pain, especially while lying down

* Symptoms of shock, such as a weak, racing pulse, pale and clammy skin, or dizziness, which may indicate a ruptured tube that requires urgent attention

Diagnosis

Ectopic pregnancies are often difficult to diagnose. However, based on the symptoms, the obstetrician may prescribe any of the following tests:

* Blood test

* Vaginal examination

* Ultrasound

If the tests are still inconclusive, the obstetrician may suggest examination of the fallopian tubes using laparoscopic surgery.

Treatment

If the embryo is still small, the ectopic pregnancy may be terminated by injecting the drug methotrexate. However, in more advanced cases, or where the medication is not advisable, a surgery may be required.

Exercising Inversely Proportional To Labour Pains!

Exercising regularly during pregnancy is the key to reduce labour pains at the time of delivery. Let us see some exercises which can be done during the delivery period.
Exercise to Relax Physically and Mentally: This exercise is done by lying flat on the floor. Do the relaxation exercise in the following order:
1) Relax your forehead. Do not bring wrinkles on your forehead.
2) Let loose your jaws.
3) Loosen your shoulders.
4) Loosen both your elbows and spread your hands away from the body.
5) Keep your hands and fingers loose.
6) Also loosen your legs.
For better relaxtion you can also request someone to move his/her hand over your forehead, shoulders and back. Do this process in between two labour pains. Relaxing helps in proper circulation of oxygen to the body. Face must also be relaxed. Automatically your whole body will get relax.

Types of breathing exercise for relaxation:
1) Breathing in synchronisation
a) Deep breathing: Breathe deeply through your nose and fill your lungs. Release air through your mouth.
b) Breathe slowly: Keep hands on your hip. Slowly breathe and then release air through your mouth as if you blow a baloon. Repeat the process twice.
c) Breathing upto the jaws: In this process say "OUT" and put emphasize on "T". Breathing automatically takes place.
Deep breathing exercise should then be repeated.

2) Low breathing: Breathe low for two times and then blow air out. Keep doing this until the urge to push baby outside is stopped. This exercise is to be done when the cervix is closed. This exercise definitely helps in preventing swelling of the cervix. The swelling of cervix is caused due the pressure exerted by the chid's head.

3) Breathing during final push out:
a) The exercise is to be done by putting two pillows under your head.
b) Breathe normally through nose and release air through the mouth.
c) Breathe again.
d) Now take a deep breath and hold.
e) Chin is to be then brought very close to the chest.
f) Now you have to apply your full force. This will help in pushing your child down. If holding breath is not possible, then release it. Again take a deep breath and hold for sometime.
e) Release your breath and relax.
The above exercise should be done in your final phase of pregnancy, i.e., when you are about to deliver.

Fertility Vitamins and Prenatal Vitamins

Many women are either confused about what to look for in fertility vitamins or they don't see the need to take vitamins at all. Let me take some time to explain why vitamin supplements are necessary in order to increase your fertility as well as why prenatal vitamins are necessary prior to and during pregnancy for you and your unborn child. Most women don't get the vitamins and minerals needed from the food they eat from day to day. We would have to eat a whole lot of fruits, vegetables, meats, and grains in order to get the balance of vitamins and minerals that our bodies need to thrive and be our healthiest.

Women's vitamins are especially important when a woman is trying to conceive and during pregnancy. These are specifically called prenatal vitamins.

Prenatal vitamins supply a rich assortment of vitamins and minerals to help a woman conceive and bring forth a healthy baby. These vitamins and minerals are necessary to help keep our hormones balanced and our nervous system running smoothly as well as keeping all our organs functioning optimally.

Let me stress - We all need to take a multivitamin and multi mineral supplement to make up for what is lacking in the food we eat. Even the best diet in the world will not give you all the nutrients you need for your best chance at getting pregnant and bringing forth an optimally healthy child.

So what do you look for? What are the qualities of the best fertility vitamins and prenatal vitamin supplements?

Well, I'm no expert. But I can tell you what I took that helped me to be more fertile and energetic and have a trouble-free pregnancy. I looked into several prenatal vitamins before choosing what I believe to be the best multi vitamin supplement that's all natural and made from organically-grown plant compounds (see below). The other prenatal vitamins were synthetically made with artificial coloring.

I also ate lots of fruits and vegetables and drank a lot of purified water. (See my Preconception page for more on this.) Make sure your multivitamin has at least 400 mcg of folic acid (I took 800 mcg daily) in order to prevent neural tube defects in your unborn baby. This neural tube develops within the first month of life, so it's important to get enough folic acid before you get pregnant.

* Remember that even the best multi vitamin supplement won't replace eating a healthy diet with lots of fruits, vegetables, dairy products, grains, meats, and drinking lots of purified water. Both a healthy diet and a great multi vitamin supplement are needed to increase your fertility and ensure that you have a healthy pregnancy.
